The heliconias are then packaged accordingly. Preferably, similar ones should be placed in the same box for they can be maneuvered to fit like puzzle pieces within each other. Depending on the heliconia that is getting packaged, different amounts will be placed inside each box to ensure that the minimal amount (if any) of the heliconias get harmed in the shipping process. The packaging is finalized with the wrapping of newspaper around the flowers. It has been demonstrated that packaging done with newspaper is more effective because it allows the heliconia to be kept moist through its entire voyage.
