1) When this particular flower’s season comes to an end, it encloses itself within its enormous leaves as if letting the world know it is going into hibernation. The leaves act as a shield to ward off the sun's powerful rays during the off peak season. This allows for the sun to only damage its leaves scorching them white (as shown in the picture below) as oppose to harming the flower itself.
Once it comes time for the flower to go into its blooming season again, the leaves unravel themselves and let the sun hit the flower that has been hidden beneath allowing for it to go through the maturation process again.
